SH27 SERIES
Safety Laser Scanners
Type 3 Safety Laser Scanners for AGV, AMR & Industrial Area Protection
CCH SH27 safety laser scanners provide configurable 2D protective field monitoring for mobile robots, automated vehicles and stationary machinery. With 3 m or 5 m protective ranges, a 276° scanning angle and up to 64 configurable zone sets, the SH27 series enables flexible safeguarding for changing industrial environments.
Choose the Right Safety Laser Scanner
Select the protective range first, then determine whether the application also requires Ethernet raw scan data. S models provide safety scanning with PNP OSSD outputs. D models retain the same safety functions and additionally provide non-safety Ethernet raw scan data for host-side processing.
Safety scanning model for applications requiring a 3 m protective range and PNP OSSD safety outputs without Ethernet raw scan data.
Combines the 3 m safety-rated protective function with supplementary Ethernet raw scan data for navigation, localization and other host-side processing.
Extended-range safety scanning model for applications requiring a 5 m protective range and PNP OSSD safety outputs without Ethernet raw scan data.
Combines the 5 m safety-rated protective function with supplementary Ethernet raw scan data for navigation, localization and other host-side processing.
Range First. Data Interface Second.
Select SH27-03S or SH27-05S when the application requires the SH27 protective function and OSSD outputs without Ethernet raw scan data.
Select SH27-03D or SH27-05D when the same safety functions are required together with Ethernet raw distance, angle and echo-intensity data.
PROTECTIVE & WARNING FIELDS
Protective Zone vs. Warning Zone
The SH27 series supports configurable protective and warning fields for different safeguarding and signaling requirements. These fields serve different functions and should not be treated as equivalent.
Protective Zone
The protective zone is used for safety-related object detection. When an object enters the configured protective field, the corresponding OSSD safety output switches to the OFF state so that the connected control system can initiate the required safe response.
- Used for personnel safeguarding and collision protection
- Safety-related monitoring field
- Detection causes the corresponding OSSD output to switch OFF
- 3 m or 5 m protective range depending on model
Warning Zone
The warning zone provides non-safety-related object detection. It can be used for signaling or pre-warning functions such as warning lights or audible alarms.
- Used for pre-warning and signaling
- Non-safety-related monitoring field
- Can activate warning lights or audible alarms
- 10 m or 20 m warning zone depending on model
Flexible Protective Fields for Changing Operating Conditions
The SH27 series supports up to 64 configurable zone sets, allowing protective and warning fields to be adapted to different machine states, travel directions and AGV operating conditions.
Configurable Zone Sets
Preconfigured field shapes can be stored and selected according to the operating condition of the machine or mobile platform.
Switch Fields by Control Inputs
Preconfigured zone sets can be selected through control inputs, allowing the active monitoring field to change with machine states or operating modes.
Speed-Dependent Protective Field Switching
Dynamic control inputs can be used with incremental encoder signals to select protective fields according to AGV travel speed.
Two Independent Protective Zones
The SH27 can operate with two protective zones, with each zone assigned to its corresponding OSSD output pair for independent safety monitoring.

Ask Our Engineers →SH27 Safety Laser Scanner FAQ
Common questions about model selection, safety functions, protective fields and AGV navigation capabilities.
What is the difference between SH27 S and D models?
S models provide the safety scanning functions of the SH27 series, including configurable protective fields and PNP OSSD safety outputs. D models retain these safety functions and additionally provide Ethernet raw scan data for AGV natural navigation and higher-level data processing.
What is the difference between the 03 and 05 models?
SH27-03 models provide a 3 m protective range and a 10 m warning zone. SH27-05 models provide a 5 m protective range and a 20 m warning zone. The required model should be selected according to the safeguarding distance and application layout.
Is the warning zone a safety-related protective field?
No. The warning zone is non-safety-related and is intended for pre-warning or signaling functions. It must not be used as a safety-related protective field.
Can the SH27 be used on AGVs and AMRs?
Yes. The SH27 can be used for AGV and AMR collision protection and personnel safeguarding. Configurable and speed-dependent protective field switching can be used to adapt the monitored area to different vehicle operating conditions.
Can the SH27 D-series provide scan data for AGV navigation?
Yes. D-series models provide Ethernet raw scan data such as distance, angle and echo intensity data, which can be used by higher-level AGV navigation, localization or mapping systems.
How many configurable zone sets does the SH27 support?
The SH27 supports up to 64 configurable zone sets. These can be selected according to machine states, travel direction or AGV operating conditions.
Is the Ethernet output safety-related?
No. The Ethernet raw-data output is non-safety-related. Safety functions are implemented through the scanner’s safety outputs, including the PNP OSSD output pairs.
Can the SH27 monitor two protective zones independently?
Yes. In dual protective zone mode, Protective Zone 1 is assigned to OSSD1 and Protective Zone 2 is assigned to OSSD2 for independent safety monitoring.
