SH27 Safety Laser Scanner Model Selector

Choose the right SH27 safety laser scanner in two steps: select the required 3 m or 5 m protective range, then decide whether your application also needs Ethernet raw scan data.

3 m · Safety

SH27-03S

3 m protective range with PNP OSSD safety outputs. No Ethernet raw scan-data output.

3 m · Safety + Ethernet

SH27-03D

3 m protective range with PNP OSSD safety outputs plus supplementary Ethernet raw scan data.

5 m · Safety

SH27-05S

5 m protective range with PNP OSSD safety outputs. No Ethernet raw scan-data output.

5 m · Safety + Ethernet

SH27-05D

5 m protective range with PNP OSSD safety outputs plus supplementary Ethernet raw scan data.

Selection Rule

Range first. Data interface second. Choose an SH27-03 model when the required protective range is within 3 m, or an SH27-05 model when up to 5 m is required. Then choose S when safety scanning is required without Ethernet raw scan data, or D when the same safety function is required together with supplementary Ethernet raw data.

Safety note: Ethernet raw scan data on SH27 D models is supplementary, non-safety-related information for host-side processing. Safety-related protective functions use the scanner’s PNP OSSD outputs.
02 · Quick Model Selector

Find Your SH27 Model

Select the required protective range, then choose whether your system also needs supplementary Ethernet raw scan data.

1. Required protective range
2. Do you need Ethernet raw scan data?
Recommended Model

Final selection should also consider protective-field geometry, stopping distance, response time, mounting conditions and the applicable machine risk assessment.
03 · Model Comparison

SH27-03S, 03D, 05S & 05D

All four models provide safety scanning through PNP OSSD outputs. The main selection differences are protective range and whether supplementary Ethernet raw scan data is required.

Model Protective Range Warning Range Safety Output Ethernet Raw Data Best Fit
SH27-03S Up to 3 m Up to 10 m PNP OSSD No Safety scanning where a 3 m protective range is sufficient.
SH27-03D Up to 3 m Up to 10 m PNP OSSD Yes
Distance / angle / echo intensity
3 m safety scanning plus host-side raw scan-data use.
SH27-05S Up to 5 m Up to 20 m PNP OSSD No Safety scanning where a protective range beyond 3 m is required.
SH27-05D Up to 5 m Up to 20 m PNP OSSD Yes
Distance / angle / echo intensity
5 m safety scanning plus host-side raw scan-data use.
D models retain the safety functions of the corresponding S model and add Ethernet raw data. Ethernet data is supplementary and is not the safety-related output used to perform the protective function.
04 · Selection Notes

Three Things to Confirm Before Ordering

The quick selector identifies the model family, but final selection should still be checked against the actual machine and safeguarding requirements.

01 · Protective Range

Select 3 m or 5 m From the Required Protective Field

Do not choose range only from machine size. Required protective-field distance depends on the actual application, including stopping performance, response time, speed and installation geometry.

02 · S vs D

Choose D Only When Ethernet Raw Data Is Needed

S models provide safety scanning through PNP OSSD outputs. D models retain the same safety function and add supplementary Ethernet distance, angle and echo-intensity data.

03 · Safety Validation

Model Selection Is Not the Final Safety Assessment

The scanner still needs to be correctly configured, positioned and integrated into the machine safety function according to the risk assessment and applicable safety requirements.

05 · FAQ & Next Step

SH27 Model Selection FAQ

Four quick answers before you move to the model-specific technical page.

What is the main difference between SH27-03 and SH27-05 models?

The main difference is protective range. SH27-03 models provide up to 3 m, while SH27-05 models provide up to 5 m. The required range should be selected from the actual protective-field requirement of the application.

What is the difference between S and D models?

S models provide safety scanning through PNP OSSD outputs without Ethernet raw scan data. D models retain the same safety scanning function and additionally provide Ethernet distance, angle and echo-intensity data for host-side processing.

Is the warning zone safety-related?

No. Warning zones are used for early detection or signaling and must not be used as a substitute for the safety-related protective field.

Does this selector replace a safety-distance or risk assessment?

No. This selector helps identify the appropriate SH27 model family. Final protective-field design, positioning, stopping distance, configuration and machine integration still need to be evaluated for the actual application.
